Data Hound (Full-time & Internship)

Who we are:

TypeZero Technologies is a digital health and personalized medicine startup dedicated to revolutionizing the treatment and management of diabetes. At TypeZero, we use advanced data science techniques, statistical analysis, proven metabolic models, and modern engineering practices to develop customized analytics tools and blood glucose control solutions to help persons with diabetes improve their health and lives.

Who we’re looking for:

We are in need of both interns and full-time staff to share in project design and engineering. You should want to work hard, play nice, impress and be impressed. Interns may be paid or unpaid with appropriate school crediting mechanism. Gender, age, race, nationality, orientation, and disability are considered neither as part of employment, nor as part of performance.

Data Hound:

We know you. We’ve been there. Your rows and fields and structured lists are like organs of your own corpus. Sometimes that database you manage just disappears and even though you have worldwide backups providing millisecond consistency, that production record just goes POOF! And it’s gone – lost to vagaries of cosmic radiation. And six weeks later you return from your existential crisis still cursing the developers and trying to negotiate your feelings for the unrequitable love of that data warehouse (long since recovered with the backups you meticulously maintained and catalogued.)

Presumably, you use Python or R for managing your calendar and contacts. If you don’t know (no)SQL, the intent behind immutable stores, and the CAP theorem yet, you certainly will before contacting us about a job or internship. Better yet, describe for us the ideas behind a time-series database and how we might benefit. When you do, be sure to don a poncho to ward off our rapturous drool.

TypeZero is located just off of downtown Charlottesville, Virginia, a vibrant and family-friendly town at the foot of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. Charlottesville has been featured as one of the best places to live and visit in the US by companies like Forbes, Travel + Leisure, Kiplinger, and Yahoo. Home to the University of Virginia, Charlottesville is a burgeoning startup environment in the healthcare and biotechnology industries.
