Machine Learning Specialist (Full-time & Internship)
Who we are:
TypeZero Technologies is a digital health and personalized medicine startup dedicated to revolutionizing the treatment and management of diabetes. At TypeZero, we use advanced data science techniques, statistical analysis, proven metabolic models, and modern engineering practices to develop customized analytics tools and blood glucose control solutions to help persons with diabetes improve their health and lives.
Who we’re looking for:
We are in need of both interns and full-time staff to share in project design and engineering. You should want to work hard, play nice, impress and be impressed. Interns may be paid or unpaid with appropriate school crediting mechanism. Gender, age, race, nationality, orientation, and disability are considered neither as part of employment, nor as part of performance.
Machine Learning Specialist:
We have some idea what this newfangled ML craze is all about. Surely it will cure cancer, unite the Middle East, and bring together vast swarms of hive-minds in blissful harmony. Naturally, we’d love to see you work on these projects too, but while the 42-order differentials bathe in your dopamine soaked mind-stew, we’ve more mundane and esoteric pursuits for you to engage: developing techniques of understanding patient behavior from single data points.
Perhaps you prefer to tackle these problems from a theory of information perspective. Maybe Newton’s 2d speaks to you in hushed intimacies. Or maybe you just want to see big numbers and long equations fly by while those around you gawk and stare. Go ahead – we won’t judge. Well actually, we will – severely. Expect by the end of your run to either (a) walk away with the grail or (b) fly too close to the fusion core of the black box classifier you built thereby scorching your eyebrows and wounding your pride. We’ll ask you of your preferred pursuit (a or b) at your first introduction to the team. We fully expect you to tell us that more research is required before we commit to anything.
TypeZero is located just off of downtown Charlottesville, Virginia, a vibrant and family-friendly town at the foot of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains.
